Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently hosted the 2022 MercedesTrophy National Finals at Saujana Golf & Country Club, bringing the Malaysian chapter of the worldwide amateur series to a close for the year.

Now in its 32nd year, the MercedesTrophy has evolved into one of the most successful amateur tournament series and is staged in over 60 countries worldwide.

“The MercedesTrophy is a sporting event that reflects the brilliant connection between sports and lifestyle while underlining the premier status for Mercedes-Benz. The combination of excellent skills and sophisticated lifestyle have been a hallmark of the tournament as it is regarded as one of the most prestigious events in the Golfing calendar with more than 60,000 participants around the globe," said Michael Jopp, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

"At Mercedes-Benz Malaysia we are proud to host the annual worldwide invitational amateur golf series, the MercedesTrophy 2022. Together with our participating customers, and partners, this exclusive golf tournament is one of the events that our customers look forward to participate every year being an invitation-only tournament for Mercedes-Benz customers who are golf enthusiasts,” he added.

This year’s Malaysian edition saw five qualifying rounds with the top five finishers from each making it into the National Final at Saujana on July 21. The finalists faced a real test of skill and temperament at Saujana's Palm Course, one of the most challenging layouts in Malaysia, while enjoying a great experience with on-course live-cooking food stalls, massages and free flow of drinks.

The main winners from the National Final were overall champion Lew Pei Yew and runner-up Shamsul Fadhli Anuari , while Ng Meng Sin won the top lucky draw prize of an Epos watch.

Lew and Shamsul each won an all-expenses paid trip to the MercedesTrophy 2022 World Final in Sindelfingen, Germany this September 28 to October 3. They will be joined by MercedesTrophy National Final 2020 champion Gow Weng Suan, forming a team of three to represent Malaysia in the World Final.

“It is a great and satisfying feeling to be crowned the Overall Winner of this prestigious tournament. Surrounded by worthy competitors, the tournament showed me that I am on the right track with my practise and training," said Lew.

"I really look forward to this tournament every year as it attracts the top golfers nationwide and the Saujana Golf and Country Club course was in fantastic condition making it a challenging yet exciting course to play. It was an honour to be a part of this tournament and I look forward to playing in the MercedesTrophy 2022 World Final in Sindelfingen in September."

The tournament also offered other fabulous prizes and exclusive merchandises including the all-new Mercedes-Benz E 200 Avantgarde for a hole-in-one.
