Nicholas Fung made it back-to-back wins on the PGM Tour after triumphing in a playoff against Fakhrul Akmal at the RM120,000 PGM Danau Championship.
Fung carded a closing even-par 71 at Danau Golf Club for a three-day total of five-under 208, matched by Fakhrul who also returned with a 71. On the first extra hole at the par-four 18th, Fung nailed a 10-foot birdie putt to seal a dramatic win.
Asked if he was nervous during the sudden-death playoff, Fung noted that his experience proved helpful.
"Playoffs are 50-50, so I just take a bet and do my best, because even if I lose, I'll still be second," said Fung, one of only four Malaysians to have won on the Asian Tour with his victory at the 2017 Queen's Cup in Thailand.
Having won a total of three PGM events this year, including the preceding Tiara Melaka Championship, Fung is now looking forward to some time off with wife Suki and two-year-old daughter Hannah.
"I'm planning to visit my wife in the States with our little one soon, so that'll be very exciting," shared the 32-year-old.
R. Nachimuthu signed in a closing two-over-par 73 for the day to seal third place on four-under-par. Wafiyuddin Manaf and Rizal Amin shared fourth place after finishing two-under-par for the tournament, while rookie Zia Izzuddeen claimed sole sixth at one-under-par.
Best amateur honours went to Nateeshvar Ganesh in joint 11th place at two-over-par.
The PGM Danau Championship was the closing event of the 2022 PGM Tour.
