Malaysian rookie professional Natasha Andrea Oon claimed a tied seventh finish in her maiden Epson Tour start at the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic held from March 3-5 in Winter Haven.
The former San Jose State university student athlete is off to a good start to her professional season with a strong finish. Oon carded identical 72s on the first two rounds of the event and closed off with a bogey-free 66 on Sunday to surge up the leaderboard.
The 21-year-old shared joint seventh with China’s Yan Liu and Perrine Delacour of France.
Three shots ahead of her at nine-under-par, Agathe Laisne, Jilian Hollis and Kiira Riihijarvi found themselves in a three-way playoff to determine the winner of the tournament. Laisne of France made birdie on the first extra hole was crowned the first champion of the 2023 Epson Tour season.
Alyaa Abdulghany was the next best placed Malaysian in joint 18th at three-under par. Another Malaysian rookie professional, Ashley Lau unfortunately did not advance to the weekend after carding identical 78s in her opening rounds.
